LTT : Listening Assignment - "Analytical Exposition"

1. Pre Listening


Well student, are you ready to begin?


First, look at the pictures below!






 After you saw it, Now think about these words below!

A. Vocabulary

Well student, Now you have to translate those words into Indonesian!

STRENGTH
1.Clear instruction
2.The audio can be played directly in the blog without downloading it first.
3.Provided with enough exercises.
4.Provided with the format of answer, and how to answer the questions (exercises).

WEAKNESSES
1.On the other posting, he provided the students with the transcription of the monologue, so the students are able to answer all of the questions without listen to the monologue first.
2.No instruction for further study for the students to learn more about analytical exposition.

SUGGESTIONS
1.Don't post the transcription of the monologue.
2.For further study, it's OK to integrate writing skill (write opinion about corruption in Indonesia), but since the focus of the study is listening skill, it's better to provide the students another monologue to listen to.
3.Make your blog more interesting by adding some widgets to attract your students.

STRENGTHS
1. the steps to do this assignment are clear.
2. The text is appropriate for them.
3. the audio can be listen directly through the blog.

WEAKNESSES
1. the instruction are not really clear. I mean that the have to read till the end before they do the assignment.

SUGGESTION
please make the instruction clear from the beginning, for example for how they do the assignment.

STRENGTHS
1.Good arrangement of task (systematic)
2. You provide the ease of accessing your task and audio files

WEAKNESSES
1. No specific instruction in the pretest activity. You just tell the students to look at the picture and think about the words. Looking at the pictures and thinking about the words will not significantly brainstorm the students. You need to involve the students more in the activity.
2. The task does not reflect its objectives. The task above should focus on listening skill and also analytical exposition. Writing assignment in the post activity will not help the students in improving their listening skill and their understanding in analytical exposition.
4.There is misspelling in the instruction (example: excercises)
SUGGESTION
1. Re-consider your task. Ensure that all tasks that you give to your students reflect the objectives and the purposes of your teaching.
2. Avoid misspelling in the instruction
3. Provide the pre listening activity that significantly brainstorm the students.Instead of looking at the pictures, you may ask the students to describe the pictures in 5 sentences. And you can also ask the students to not only think about the words but also find the meaning and the pronunciation. I think those help the students better.
